Biography
Michael is an actor and baritone in New York City, where he will soon be seen in a play called Lathem Prince at P.S. 122 in the East Village.
He recently played the role of Sir Despard Murgatroyd in Gilbert & Sullivan’s Ruddigore (or The Witch’s Curse) with Theatre Ten Ten. He has recently been seen as the narrator and several other characters in Musicals Tonight’s readings of P.G. Wodehouse short stories. Other New York roles have included Boris, “The Mouse of Doom,” and Dickie Sanchez in Electric Pear Productions‘ Baby Face, written by Ashlin Halfnight and directed by Alexis Poledouris. He was also seen in the NY International Fringe Festival in Mary Berry Presents: The Life of Mary Berry.
This summer in Maine, Michael played several non-singing roles in the Donizetti opera, L’elisir d’amore, as well as singing in the “Pops” concert with the Bar Harbor Music Festival. Last fall, Michael played the role of Frosch, the drunken jailor, in the Johann Strauss operetta, Die Fledermaus, with Opera Southwest in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Michael can be heard on the Stage Stars Records recordings of Legally Blonde: The Musical as Professor Callahan, Kiss Me Kate as “Gangster No. 1″ singing “Brush Up Your Shakespeare,” Damn Yankees as Coach Van Buren leading “Heart,” South Pacific as Luther Billis, and Mamma Mia as Harry. Before NYC, Michael lived in Seattle, where he was seen at the Village Theatre in Driving Miss Daisy as Boolie, Guys & Dolls as Harry the Horse, The Unsinkable Molly Brown as Christmas Morgan.
Other Seattle credits include Into the Woods as Rapunzel’s Prince, Chess as Molokov, Annie as Daddy Warbucks (Eastside Musical Theatre); Little Shop of Horrors as Mr. Mushnik, H.M.S. Pinafore as Sir Joseph Porter, K.C.B. (Seattle Civic Light Opera); Henry V as Chorus (Exchange Theatre); Bell, Book & Candle as Redlitch, Deathtrap as Porter Milgrim (Woodinville Repertory Theatre); and Marry Me a Little (Seattle Fringe Festival).
Michael has served as emcee, both in and out of character for organizations such as Goodyear, Tiffany & Co., the Washington State Government and Qualis Health Care. His portrayal of “Mother Nature” for Seattle’s Cascade Land Conservancy fundraiser earned him rave reviews.
Michael is extremely adept at character voices and dialects, having performed roles in Russian, British, Irish, Scottish, German, American Southern, Texan, and other accents.
